Here I go again! Another little expedition out of London, down to the English countryside. Thinking about it I believe this is my first little getaway of the year (woohoo). I first discovered the Cotswolds in November last year and it’s become my second favorite place in the U.K. (With London obviously being my first).
I was booked into The Maytime Inn which was set in beautiful countryside and that had a charm and feel that made it super cozy. I felt at home as soon as I arrived.
The drive down to the Cotswolds from London takes around two and a half hours so the tea and homemade chocolate chip shortbread waiting when I got there got everything off to a perfect start. It was honestly the best shortbread I have ever tasted! In fact, everything I ate at this wonderful little hotel was super yummy from the Fish and Chips I had for dinner to the full English I had in the morning. The hotel and restaurant really represented country life and I was able to eat by a huge log fire surrounded by locals and their many dogs. It was certainly different from eating out in London but being a lover of dogs I’ve got to say I enjoyed the relaxed feel it contributed to.
Overall, I loved my stay here. If your looking to escape to the countryside to a cute and cozy spot with yummy food then this place could be for you.
